Walid Al-Naghma Achieves Doctorate in Science
On May 16, 2026, the city of Fes witnessed a significant academic milestone with the awarding of a PhD in Science to Walid Al-Naghma, a researcher from Taounate. The ceremony took place at the Faculty of Sciences at the Dhar Mehraz campus, part of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University in Fes. This scholarly achievement was realized within the framework of the Doctoral Studies Center "Sciences, Techniques, and Medical Sciences," specializing in electrical engineering, specifically at the laboratory dedicated to electronics, signals, systems, and computer science.
Innovative Research on Energy Harvesting
Al-Naghma's dissertation, titled "Conception, simulation et réalisation de Rectennas pour la récupération d’énergie destinée à l’alimentation d’appareils de faible puissance," focuses on the development of modern techniques capable of capturing the electromagnetic energy available in the surrounding environment and converting it into usable electrical energy for low-power electronic devices. This area of research is increasingly gaining attention due to its diverse applications in the realms of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart sensors, and self-powered electronic systems.
The thesis defense was conducted before a distinguished scientific committee comprising numerous professors and researchers from various Moroccan universities, including the Faculty of Sciences at Dhar Mehraz and Moulay Ismail University in Meknes. The committee was chaired by Professor Ismail Boumehidi, with supervision provided by Professor Abdel Ghani Akli. This achievement reflects the advanced standing of Moroccan scientific research in modern energy technology and sustainable electronic solutions, highlighting the contribution of young talents in fostering scientific innovation in the kingdom.
On behalf of the Sada Taounate magazine and the Taounate website, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Walid Al-Naghma for this remarkable accomplishment.
