Doha Madani Shines at CAF Awards
During the prestigious CAF Awards ceremony held in Rabat, 20-year-old AS FAR player Doha Madani was honored with the Best Young Player of the Year award. Her remarkable talent and potential have made her a beacon of hope for both Moroccan and African football, showcasing the bright future of the sport on the continent. In another highlight of the evening, Tanzanian player Clement Mzize of TP Mazembe took home the award for Best Goal of the Year 2025, with Moroccan talents Oussama Lamlioui and Ghizlane Chebbak also being recognized for their outstanding performances in the nomination list.
Morocco's U17 Women’s Team: A Mixed Performance
The Moroccan national U17 women’s football team had a thrilling match against Costa Rica, securing a 3-1 victory in their final Group A match at the Rabat Olympic Stadium. Mayssa Baha was instrumental in this win, scoring twice, including a penalty, while Costa Rica managed to find the net late in the game through Naima Moya. However, the team faced a setback in their prior match against Italy, where they were defeated 3-1. Despite Dounia El Masmoudi scoring a consolation goal for Morocco, the team is currently at the bottom of the group and will need a strong performance in the upcoming match against Costa Rica to keep their hopes alive.
Looking ahead, head coach Jorge Vilda has announced the squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will take place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16. The team has been placed in Group A alongside Senegal, Algeria, and Kenya, and preparations are underway to ensure they put forth a strong showing.
