Empowering Young Entrepreneurs in Chad
The Chadian Ministry of Youth and Sports has unveiled an ambitious entrepreneurial excellence program in collaboration with the Agadir Private University of Health and Sciences (UPSSA) in Morocco. This initiative aims to train 100 young entrepreneurs from all 23 provinces of Chad, marking a significant step towards fostering entrepreneurial spirit and economic growth within the nation.
Set to commence in October 2026, the program will offer a three-year training, incubation, and support pathway at the Agadir Private School of Business and Management (APSBM), which is affiliated with UPSSA. According to the ministry's statement, each participant will be guided in conceptualizing and developing entrepreneurial projects that address the economic, social, or environmental needs of their respective provinces. The focus will be on creating job opportunities, enhancing local potential, and developing initiatives tailored to the realities of the community.
Comprehensive Training and Support
The curriculum will encompass a diverse range of subjects including entrepreneurship, management, leadership, innovation, digital transformation, finance, international trade, governance, and project management. Participants will also receive mentorship, coaching, and incubation support, alongside assistance in securing funding for their ventures. Beyond the academic framework, the partnership plans to host boot camps, hackathons, innovation competitions, incubation programs, and international conferences, all aimed at nurturing a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Chad.
The educational, technical, and organizational contributions from UPSSA for the 100 placements over the three-year period are estimated to be worth one billion CFA francs, as stated by the ministry. "Our ambition extends beyond merely training a hundred youths; each one must be able to build a concrete project that meets the realities of their home province, create value, generate jobs, and become a genuine actor in local transformation," declared Naïr Abakar, the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The ministry has also emphasized that a selection process characterized by fairness and transparency will be implemented to ensure representation from all 23 provinces. Further details regarding the selection criteria, timeline, and application procedures will be announced in due course. This initiative is part of Chad's national policy to promote youth employment and the development of entrepreneurship.
