In recent communications received by Bladi.net, several alarming reports have surfaced regarding the entry of Moroccan nationals into Algeria. Notably, three individual testimonies have emerged detailing instances where travelers were denied entry despite possessing valid family visas. One particular case highlights a visa that was issued on October 1, 2026, in Casablanca, which seemingly failed to facilitate the traveler’s entry into Algeria, raising questions about the current visa policies.
According to the latest correspondence, a Moroccan woman reported that her husband was sent back upon arrival in Algeria, despite holding a family visa and being accompanied by his Algerian spouse. Another individual recounted a similar experience in Oran, stating, "I am a Moroccan with a family visa (with a wife and children who are Algerian), and I was turned away in Oran." This person expressed concerns about a potential policy of reciprocity and advised fellow Moroccans against traveling without a valid residency permit. Unfortunately, the official reason for his denial was not specified in his message.
Visa Issuance Amidst Reports of Denials
Algeria has enforced a visa requirement for Moroccan passport holders since September 26, 2024, a decision that was reported at the time by TV5Monde with AFP. However, the testimonies received recently pertain to travelers who claimed to have obtained family visas prior to their departure, suggesting that the situation may not be as straightforward as it seems.
Conversely, since September 16, reports have emerged about boarding restrictions for Algerian nationals traveling to Morocco. TSA indicated that Air France had issued directives to its teams in Algeria, instructing them to deny boarding to Algerian passengers heading to Morocco without a valid Moroccan residency card. This directive was reportedly attributed to the Moroccan border police, underlining the growing tensions between the two nations.
Additional complications have also been noted for travelers departing from France. An Algerian resident in France shared her experience of being denied boarding along with her daughter by Transavia at Orly airport on September 19, while attempting to travel to Marrakech. These incidents highlight the increasingly complex and fraught nature of cross-border travel between Algeria and Morocco, raising significant concerns for both travelers and their families.
