Chanel Appoints Marie-Laure Cérède as Creative Director of Jewelry Design

Chanel's New Era in Jewelry Design Under Marie-Laure Cérède

Chanel, the renowned luxury brand, has officially announced the appointment of Marie-Laure Cérède as the new Creative Director of its jewelry studio. Cérède, who will take over the position in October 2026, succeeds the late Patrice Leguéreau, who passed away in late 2024. With this pivotal role, Cérède will oversee the strategic and stylistic direction of Chanel's jewelry and high jewelry collections, ensuring the brand's legacy continues to thrive in the luxury market.

In her new capacity, Cérède will coordinate the efforts of development teams based in both Paris and Geneva, reporting directly to Frédéric Grangié, the president of Chanel's Watches & Jewelry division. "Marie-Laure's creative approach will bring a fresh perspective to the unique design codes that define Chanel's creations. Her imagination, extensive craftsmanship experience, and knowledge of gemology will guide the brand towards new directions," stated Grangié, emphasizing the significance of her vision in shaping the future of Chanel's jewelry offerings.

Marie-Laure Cérède comes equipped with over two decades of experience in the luxury sector, having worked with some of the industry's most prestigious names. She began her career at Cartier as a creative communication and product manager before joining Harry Winston in 2002, where she served as the artistic director for both jewelry and watch designs for 14 years. In 2016, she returned to Cartier, where she spent nearly a decade overseeing the design and style of their jewelry and watches.

Expressing her excitement about joining Chanel, Cérède remarked, "I am honored and thrilled to be part of Chanel, a house with a unique cultural strength and exceptional discipline that continues to challenge conventions, redefine femininity, and express modernity through form and spirit. I look forward to meeting the teams and collectively writing this new chapter." With her impressive background and visionary outlook, Cérède is set to elevate Chanel's jewelry design to new heights.
