Rabat to Host the National Optics and Eyewear Congress 2026
On October 9 and 10, 2026, Rabat will welcome the third edition of the National Optics and Eyewear Congress (CNOL) at the Mohammed VI Foundation for Education's conference center. This significant event is expected to draw professionals from Morocco and across Africa, along with international experts and institutional representatives, for two days dedicated to exploring advancements in the optics sector and visual health.
The theme for this year's congress, "Vision Without Borders: Cooperation and Knowledge Sharing," will focus on various critical areas including education, innovation, new professional practices, and the challenges of visual health. Delegations from multiple African nations are anticipated to participate, fostering discussions around professional practices, training, and common issues faced in the field of vision care.
This continental dimension marks a notable addition to the congress, aimed at enhancing the exchange of experiences and knowledge among various stakeholders in the optics industry.
Highlights of the Event: SILMO Academy
One of the key highlights of CNOL 2026 will be the participation of SILMO Academy, an international platform dedicated to training and knowledge sharing in the optics field. The academy will present scientific and professional content focused on the latest trends, innovations, and practices within the industry. The agenda will also include a variety of activities such as conferences, masterclasses, practical workshops, networking opportunities, and an exhibition.
Continuing its commitment to visual health, the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection will take part for the third consecutive year. Their involvement represents an ongoing dialogue between public authorities and optics professionals regarding visual health issues, including prevention, screening for visual impairments, patient support, and collaboration among health sector stakeholders.
Prior to the congress, a social outreach initiative will take place on October 3 in a school in Benslimane, in collaboration with the Achifa association. This initiative aims to raise awareness and screen for visual impairments among children, underscoring the importance of early detection of vision problems and their potential impact on educational outcomes.
Since its inception in 2024, the CNOL has rapidly gained prominence, attracting over 700 vision professionals during its inaugural event. The following year saw the incorporation of new technologies and transformations within the profession. For this third edition, organizers aim to further broaden participation to include professionals from both African and international backgrounds. Ouail Ouahi, the president of the CNOL Organizing Committee, emphasizes the goal of uniting various stakeholders around education and knowledge sharing.
Habib Raich, the general coordinator of CNOL and president of the Moroccan Opticians Association, highlights the significance of experience sharing, international openness, and the social responsibility of vision professionals. Thus, CNOL 2026 promises to bring together conferences, training sessions, innovations, and visual health initiatives, with increased participation from stakeholders across several African countries.
