Collective Resignation from the Unified Socialist Party
In a significant political development, approximately 60 members of the Unified Socialist Party have announced their collective resignation from the party and all organizational roles they held. The 56 resigning members, representing branches from various regions including Temara, Skhirat, Taroudant, Moulay Yacoub, Biougra, Agadir, Bouznika, Casablanca, Ouarzazate, Fes, El Jadida, Taza, and several branches abroad (France, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands), have expressed their full commitment to the New Left Movement. This independent political movement aims to reconstruct the left on solid ideological, political, and organizational foundations, adapting to the challenges presented by the current political landscape.
This collective resignation stems from the decisions made during the general assembly of the New Left Movement held on June 26, 2026, which called for a complete and official withdrawal from the Unified Socialist Party. The members indicated that after exhausting all attempts for fraternal dialogue and internal reform initiatives, they faced a lack of responsiveness from the current party leadership. Furthermore, they encountered resistance to their proposed reconstruction strategies, which they believe were met with obstinacy and exclusion, straying from the progressive path. Their commitment to the principles that have historically guided generations of leftist activists is clear, as they seek to meet the demands of the moment and fulfill a historic responsibility to the broader populace.
They have also indicated that the initial resignation list has been submitted to the party leadership through official channels. Furthermore, they plan to hold a press conference to shed light on this significant event, with details regarding its location and date to be announced soon.
