Royal Commemorations Mark the Legacy of King Hassan II
In a heartfelt tribute to the late King Hassan II, royal committees undertook the significant task of delivering royal gifts to various religious institutions, including zawiyas and shrines, throughout Morocco. This event, held on Monday, commemorated the 28th anniversary of the king's passing and was marked by religious ceremonies that attracted local officials, members of religious councils, leaders of the zawiyas, scholars, and devoted followers.
In Al Hoceima, the Alawiya Darqawiya Shadhiliya Zawiya received a royal gift, presented by a royal committee during a ceremony attended by prominent local figures, security and military officials, as well as elected representatives. The leader of the zawiya, Mohammed Ghambo, expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon their institution.
Similarly, in the historical city of Essaouira, a royal gift was bestowed upon the Sharafa of the Ragraga Zawiya. This ceremony, which took place in the old medina, saw the head of the zawiya, Abdelaziz El Mokaddem, receive the gift from the royal committee, with the participation of Essaouira Governor Mohammed Rachid, local authorities, and members of the religious community.
Furthermore, royal gifts were also delivered to significant shrines, including the Moulay Abdallah Amghar and Moulay Bouchaib Reddad shrines located in El Jadida province, alongside the Sidi Abdelaziz Ben Yefou Zawiya in Sidi Bennour province. The delivery in these areas was overseen by Saadeddine Smiej, an official from the Royal Palace Department, and was attended by governors, local authority representatives, and followers of these revered religious sites.
The ceremonies were enriched with Quranic recitations and religious chants, allowing participants to reflect on the enduring legacy of the late King Hassan II. His pivotal role in the modernization of Morocco and the strengthening of national unity was celebrated throughout the events. As the ceremonies drew to a close, participants offered prayers for the health and longevity of the current monarch, King Mohammed VI, as well as for Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and other royal family members. Additionally, they prayed for mercy and forgiveness for the late Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II, further emphasizing the deep-rooted respect and affection for the royal lineage.
