The General Directorate of National Security, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, has initiated an extensive security and patrol campaign in the city of Marrakech. This operation aims to apprehend criminal elements sought internationally for their involvement in organized crime, international drug trafficking, and money laundering, according to media reports.
As per the same reports, the leadership of these field operations has been entrusted to Security Chief Mohamed Dkhissi, the Director of Judicial Police, who is supported by the head of the National Judicial Police Brigade in Casablanca. This strategic move comes in response to a target bank and precise intelligence data provided by the Territorial Surveillance Directorate, as part of a collaborative effort with the international organization Interpol. The objective is to locate criminal elements that have taken refuge in Marrakech following increased pressure from the Dubai Police in the United Arab Emirates.
Over the past three days, these intensive security operations have led to the arrest of several individuals wanted internationally, including a Moroccan citizen classified as 'extremely dangerous' and subject to multiple international arrest warrants. He was apprehended inside a residential apartment in the winter quarter (Gueliz) near the Marrakech Court of Appeal.
These operations are part of Morocco's proactive security approach to combat transcontinental crime, a strategy that has garnered international acclaim. This recognition was recently highlighted by the request for Moroccan security expertise to enhance the safety of major sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
