Serious Concerns Over Cheating Prevention Measures in Fez Baccalaureate Exams
The National Federation of Parents' Associations in Fez has raised significant concerns regarding the integrity of the baccalaureate examinations (both regional and national) conducted in June 2026. The federation reported that these assessments were marred by various irregularities and incidents that provoked dissatisfaction among candidates and their families. While the federation expressed its unwavering support for initiatives aimed at safeguarding the credibility of national examinations and combating cheating, it also highlighted the adverse reactions stemming from the implementation of certain measures. Many candidates and their families felt that these actions infringed upon their dignity and created confusion both prior to and during the examination process.
Furthermore, the federation pointed out that the timing of the anti-cheating operations detracted from the candidates' allotted examination time, disrupting their focus and exacerbating psychological stress and anxiety levels. The use of anti-cheating devices was also criticized for being intrusive, compromising candidates' personal privacy and undermining their dignity.
In light of these issues, the federation urged authorities to ensure that these procedures are implemented with full respect for individual rights and the human dignity of the candidates. Additionally, it called for adequate psychological and communication support for candidates to facilitate their integration into these new protocols, emphasizing the importance of involving parent associations in the planning and execution of these measures.
Moreover, the federation expressed its rejection of the manual inspection procedures adopted at some examination centers, particularly concerning the physical searching of students, including female candidates, which even extended to sensitive areas of their bodies. It also called for a reassessment of the decision to relocate third-year middle school and sixth-year primary students to unfamiliar institutions without considering their developmental stage, which negatively affects their mental well-being and adds undue pressure on their families.
Finally, the federation advocated for a re-evaluation of assessment methods, proposing that they serve as tools for enhancing learning rather than mere instruments for evaluating student outcomes. These recommendations aim to create a more supportive and respectful examination environment for all students.
