Construction Progress of Casablanca's New Multi-Sport Hall
The long-awaited construction of a new multi-sport hall at the Lahjajma site in Casablanca has officially begun, marking a significant step forward for local sports infrastructure. The initial phase of groundwork is currently underway, with heavy machinery actively working on the site. This new facility is set to be a cornerstone for various indoor sports, including futsal, basketball, handball, and volleyball, serving the community and fostering talent in these disciplines.
Located in the Anfa district, near the Bourgogne neighborhood, this future sports complex will not only provide a dedicated space for athletic activities but will also feature essential amenities such as spectator stands, changing rooms for players and referees, medical and technical facilities, and designated areas for officials. The project is being undertaken by the local development company Casa Aménagement, with the construction contract awarded to the Inter Tridim-Optimaco consortium for a total of 127.3 million dirhams. The expected timeline for the completion of the project is set at 24 months, with the groundwork being the first step in a more extensive construction phase.
The architectural vision for the multi-sport hall comes from the collaborative efforts of H+E Architecture and BAQILI Architecture, who are responsible for the project's architectural oversight. This new venue is a pivotal component of the broader redevelopment initiative taking place at the Lahjajma site, which entails an investment of approximately 260 million dirhams. Alongside the multi-sport hall, the redevelopment plan includes the construction of a covered swimming pool, a market, an underground parking facility, socio-cultural amenities, green spaces, and a public square, all designed to enhance community engagement and promote a healthy lifestyle.
With the commencement of the excavation works, the project signifies the start of a new chapter in Casablanca's sporting landscape, promising a modern facility that will cater to the needs of athletes and sports enthusiasts alike, while also contributing to the urban development of the area.
