Significant Arrests in Morocco Amid International Crime Crackdown
In a remarkable operation carried out on Monday, Moroccan security forces, in close coordination with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance, successfully apprehended 11 individuals who were subjects of national and international arrest warrants. Among those detained were ten suspects holding dual citizenships from Morocco, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, along with one French national.
The security interventions took place in the cities of Marrakech and Tangier, where the identification of the suspects through databases from Interpol revealed that ten of them were subject to red notices issued at the request of judicial authorities in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The information indicates that six of the detained individuals are French citizens of Moroccan descent, wanted by French authorities due to their suspected involvement in money laundering and connections to criminal networks engaged in drug trafficking, as well as various fraud-related offenses.
Additionally, the operations led to the arrest of three Belgian nationals of Moroccan origin, who are sought by Belgian judicial authorities due to their alleged ties to international drug trafficking activities. The security forces also detained a Dutch citizen of Moroccan descent, who was the subject of a red notice from Interpol for suspected involvement in international drug promotion and money laundering crimes.
In a related development, a French national was arrested after a background check revealed that he was sought at the national level under a warrant issued by the National Criminal Police for suspected involvement in a money laundering case.
Search operations conducted in connection with this case resulted in the seizure of luxury watches, personal belongings, high-value vehicles and motorcycles, as well as significant amounts of cash in both national and foreign currencies, bank cards, mobile phones, doses of cocaine, passports, and identification documents belonging to the suspects.
The detained individuals are currently under police custody, pending further investigations and inquiries into the criminal activities attributed to them. This is part of the ongoing effort to address complaints and foreign judicial files that require the application of legal consequences as stipulated in national legislation, particularly given the Moroccan nationality of several suspects involved.
