Marrakech Court Delivers Verdict in High-Profile Case

On the evening of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Marrakech Court of First Instance delivered its verdict in a case that has captured the attention of the local community in Tamansourt and Harbil. The defendant, known by the nickname "Chouaib," was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after the court found substantial evidence against him concerning several charges. However, he was acquitted of the charge related to the enticement of a minor. The judicial panel also mandated that the defendant pay a financial penalty of 5,000 dirhams and ordered him to cover the legal costs, applying the minimum physical coercion necessary. This decision followed the court's confidence in the evidence presented during the investigation and trial phases.

In terms of the civil aspect of the case, the court awarded financial compensation to several civil claimants. Specifically, it granted 40,000 dirhams to Abdel Hafid, while both Tofiq and Tofiq received 7,000 dirhams each. Additionally, Boujamâ received 7,000 dirhams, and Hasna was awarded 10,000 dirhams. The public prosecutor had previously charged the defendant while he was in custody for a variety of offenses, including insulting the judicial police by reporting a fictitious crime and providing false evidence regarding the matter. Other charges included disseminating private statements or information without the owners' consent and publishing false claims to defame and infringe upon private life.

The indictment also included charges of incitement to commit a felony using electronic means that met the criteria for public exposure, as well as the unauthorized use of a minor's image. This ruling marks the conclusion of a judicial case that has stirred significant interest within the local communities of Tamansourt and Harbil, particularly due to the nature of the allegations against the defendant and the extensive discussions it has generated among the public.
