Court Upholds Ruling Against Moroccan Artist 'Bouz Flow' in Defamation Case

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Court of Appeals in Fes confirmed the initial ruling against the Moroccan singer Jawad Asridi, widely recognized by his stage name "Bouz Flow." The appellate court upheld all the provisions issued by the lower court, which had previously found Asridi guilty.

The primary court in Sefrou had sentenced Asridi to three months in prison, suspended, along with a fine of 2,000 dirhams. Additionally, the court ruled that he should be allowed to retrieve his personal computer, which had been seized as part of the investigation process.

This legal action stemmed from a series of charges filed by the public prosecutor against Asridi, which included accusations of "insulting an organized body and disrespecting public officials in their capacity to perform their duties, intending to undermine their honor and the respect due to their authority." These charges were initiated based on the content and dissemination of several of his songs.

It is noteworthy that "Bouz Flow" had been released from the local prison in Sefrou after completing his initial trial period, where he had requested the court to apply the law during his final statement.
