Crackdown on Crime in Fes: Police Operations Lead to Arrests in Multiple Theft Cases

Intensified Law Enforcement Efforts in Fes

The Fes Security Directorate continues its rigorous operations aimed at combating crime in all its forms, particularly those acts that directly threaten the safety and security of citizens. Recent police interventions have resulted in the apprehension of several individuals suspected of involvement in theft-related offenses, highlighting a concerted effort to restore public confidence in safety.

On Sunday, March 15, law enforcement officials presented three suspects to the public prosecutor's office, believed to be linked to a series of thefts targeting numerous citizens. The prosecutor's office has decided to pursue formal charges against these individuals while they remain in custody at the local prison in Bourkaiz, citing the severity of the offenses and the lack of guarantees for their appearance in court.

According to sources, the first suspect, identified as N.A., faces charges of theft after five victims have come forward against him, namely: L.M., A.H., Z.A., J.R., and A.A. The second suspect, L.A., is being prosecuted for multiple thefts, with six victims reported, including L.A., A.A., A.H., B.K., A.A., and Q.H. Lastly, the third suspect, A.F., is under investigation for multiple thefts as well, with ten victims coming forward, including M.A., H.S., K.Y., B.A., B.R., L.N., A.H., A.D., H.Z., and K.S.

The prosecutor's office has referred all three suspects to the misdemeanor court at the Fes primary court, which will begin reviewing these cases on Monday, March 16. It is anticipated that the hearings may be postponed to allow for the preparation of defenses and the summoning of victims.

Moreover, informed sources suggest that the actual number of potential victims could exceed those currently recorded, as many individuals who have experienced theft have yet to approach the relevant authorities to file complaints against the accused.

This series of police operations is part of an intensified campaign being conducted by various security components of the Fes Security Directorate, particularly in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr. This campaign involves the participation of criminal investigation teams, public security officers, intelligence agents, and motorcycle units.

These interventions are aligned with ongoing efforts by the National Security Directorate, in coordination with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, to tackle various forms of crime and enhance the sense of security among citizens. The authorities are committed to responding swiftly and effectively to public calls for assistance and complaints.
