Crackdown on Criminal Gang in Fes: Taxi Drivers Targeted
On Monday, the Criminal Chamber at the Court of Appeal in Fes decided to postpone the trial of a criminal gang known for its involvement in multiple thefts committed at night until October 8. This decision comes in the wake of an investigation triggered by a complaint from a driver of a second-class taxi who reported being threatened with a knife during a robbery. Following the complaint, law enforcement intensified their efforts to locate the suspects, particularly after identifying one of them in connection with a similar case recorded at the security precinct of Bendbab.
According to sources, the arrested suspect, identified as Sufyan A., nicknamed "the ship," was apprehended thanks to police investigations conducted by a specialized anti-gang unit operating within the second security zone. The police received a tip-off indicating that he was using a garage in the Riyad neighborhood as a hideout. At the time of his arrest, he was found in the company of another individual named Amin N.
Upon initial questioning, the first suspect admitted to participating in the robbery reported that same night alongside the second arrested individual and a third accomplice. They are believed to have executed a series of thefts targeting second-class taxi drivers using the same modus operandi. The suspects are being prosecuted by the public prosecutor for forming a criminal gang, committing multiple thefts at night and breaking and entering, while also using a motor vehicle to facilitate their crimes.
