In a recent operation, the Romanian Border Police, in collaboration with Bulgarian border officials, conducted an inspection of a vehicle registered in Romania along DN 5. The vehicle, operated by a 51-year-old Romanian national, was transporting three passengers aged between 30 and 62, who were traveling towards the Bulgaria-Romania route.
During the inspection, authorities discovered that two of the passengers were Nepalese nationals lacking valid documentation for travel within the Schengen Area. Further checks, executed via the E-DAC application, revealed that these individuals were subject to alerts issued by Bulgarian authorities due to prior return decisions.
On the same day, around 12:15 PM, a mixed patrol stationed in the DN 5 vicinity identified another individual near the former border crossing. Upon verification, it was confirmed that this person, a Moroccan citizen, also did not possess valid travel documents for entry into the Schengen Area.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:50 PM, border police stopped a Romanian-registered truck driven by a 37-year-old Turkish citizen, which was transporting iron from Turkey to Romania. During the inspection, officers noted a loose safety rope on the front right side of the semi-trailer. Following a thorough examination, they discovered two additional individuals concealed within the truck: a Turkish national and an Iranian national, both of whom also lacked valid travel documentation for the Schengen Area.
As a result of these findings, investigations are underway regarding the alleged crime of fraudulently crossing the state border involving five foreign nationals: a Turkish citizen, an Iranian citizen, a Moroccan citizen, and two Nepalese citizens. Legal actions will be initiated through the appropriate prosecutorial channels upon the completion of the investigations.
Shortly after, in alignment with the cooperation agreement between the Romanian and Bulgarian Border Police, a border meeting was convened where the five foreign nationals were transferred to Bulgarian authorities for further investigation.
