Cultural Events Uniting Art and Community

Spanning from Marrakech to Utrecht and passing through Tafraout, a series of cultural events are being held that delve into topics such as poetry, journalism, cinema, migration, heritage, and local development. These events are driven by committed actors and constantly evolving artistic expressions, demonstrating the rich tapestry of cultural dialogue that characterizes the region.

Engaging Dialogues in Marrakech

In Marrakech, the Dar Chiir (House of Poetry) hosted the third edition of the "Poets and Journalists" program, an innovative initiative that explores the connections between poetic creation and journalistic practice. This cultural evening brought together poets, journalists, and art enthusiasts, fostering a rich dialogue between writing and information. Notable figures from the Moroccan cultural scene, including Abdelatif Benyahia, Fatima El Baroudi, Ouidad Benmoussa, and Mohamed Belmou, participated in this enlightening event. Through poetry readings and personal testimonies, they shared their intertwined experiences, highlighting the bridges between artistic sensitivity and journalistic commitment.

The director of the House of Poetry, Abdelhak Mifrani, emphasized the significance of this program in promoting hybrid experiences capable of renewing forms of expression and creating new spaces for dialogue. The evening also featured a tribute to Abdelatif Benyahia, celebrating his rich journey between poetic creation and radio production, particularly at Radio Tanger. The event was further enlivened by artistic performances by Soukaina Mouisse and Ilyas Arghay, merging poetry and music in a deeply emotional atmosphere.

Utrecht's Celebration of Moroccan Cinema

Meanwhile, Utrecht in the Netherlands is hosting the sixth edition of the International Film Festival on Cinema and Migration, which shines a light on the human and social issues related to contemporary mobility. Organized by the Tawasol Foundation for Culture and Media, this event gathers filmmakers from Morocco, Europe, and the Arab world. The festival's program features a selection of films exploring migratory trajectories and their impacts on identities, including "Casablanca-Dakar" by Ahmed Boulan, "Routini" by Lotfi Ait Jaoui, and "My Father is Not Dead" by Adil El Fadili, among others. A jury comprising actress Khouloud El Battioui and director Malika Zairi will evaluate these submissions, while the festival honors Ahmed Boulan and Khouloud El Battioui for their contributions to Moroccan cinema.

Beyond film screenings, the festival hosts conferences and discussions centered on themes such as the film industry in diasporas, further affirming cinema's role as a vehicle for intercultural dialogue and understanding contemporary realities.

Tafraout's Almond Festival and Local Development

In the southern region of Morocco, the city of Tafraout welcomes the 13th edition of the Almond Festival, themed "Land of Almonds, Land of the Future." This event highlights the agricultural and cultural wealth of the area, promoting the almond tree as a lever for economic and social development. Organized by the Louz Tafraout Association, the festival features a rich program that combines exhibitions, scientific meetings, and cultural animations. A dedicated space allows cooperatives and artisanal associations to showcase their local products, fostering the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of social and solidarity-based economy.

The Tafraout Scientific Days bring together researchers and experts to discuss issues related to the almond sector and territorial development. Concurrently, artistic and folkloric programming showcases the diversity of Amazigh cultural heritage, complemented by sports and recreational activities designed for the wider public. More than just a festive occasion, the Almond Festival aligns with a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the region's tourist appeal and preserving its cultural riches while supporting sustainable development initiatives.
