A Cultural Celebration Uniting Spain and Morocco

In a remarkable display of cultural camaraderie, Vejer de la Frontera, often hailed as the most beautiful village in Spain, is set to commemorate the 26th anniversary of its twinning with the Moroccan city of Chefchaouen. This event, rooted deeply in historical ties, will take place from July 17 to July 22, featuring a diverse array of activities aimed at celebrating the rich cultural heritage shared between these two enchanting towns. The event is organized by the Vejer City Council's Cultural Department and promises to be a vibrant showcase of art, tradition, and community spirit.

Highlights of the Program

The festivities will kick off with the recreation of an Andalusian souk on the evenings of July 17 and 18, starting at 8:00 PM. This lively market will feature stalls offering traditional crafts, local products, and age-old techniques, set against the stunning backdrop of the historic Castillo de Vejer. On July 19, attendees can look forward to a mesmerizing concert titled ‘Music Without Borders,’ featuring renowned artists Tito Alcedo and Ricardo Piñero, set to take place at the Murallas de la Segur at 11:00 PM.

The commemoration will culminate on July 21 with an official ceremony marking the anniversary, held in the Hall of the San Francisco Municipal Theater. That same evening, the enchanting tale of “The Legend of Ben Rachid and Lalla Zhora” will be brought to life on stage, portraying a poignant love story that bridges Vejer and Chaouen. This captivating play will also be performed the following night, with tickets available for €12 in advance and €15 at the door. Reservations can be made via WhatsApp at 691303429.
