Cybastion and Cisco Join Forces to Build Renewable Digital Infrastructure in Morocco

Transforming Africa's Digital Landscape

Cybastion, a renowned company specializing in sovereign digital infrastructures and cybersecurity, has partnered with Cisco, a leading technology group involved in networking, cloud computing, and system protection, to enhance their collaboration in Morocco. This initiative aims to establish national control over digital equipment powered entirely by renewable energy sources, specifically designed to meet the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) across Africa. The delegation from Cybastion included its CEO, Thierry Wandji Ketchiozo, along with strategic director Andre Biyong and senior vice president for public affairs, Scott Blacklin. They engaged in discussions with Cisco's Executive Vice President, Francine Katsoudas, alongside regional leaders responsible for multiple markets, focusing on a shared vision for Africa's digital future as the continent enters a new phase of transformation driven by AI.

Data Sovereignty and Cybersecurity

This collaboration is set to provide African governments with more resilient infrastructures, enhanced protection against cyber threats, and international-level digital solutions. It is crucial for these nations to gain greater control over the hosting, processing, and circulation of their data while adhering to the standards required by public services, the economy, and future AI applications. Both companies aim to provide governments with access to robust infrastructures, superior cybersecurity capabilities, and world-class digital solutions, which are essential for supporting the long-term economic competitiveness of African nations, particularly as the digitization of administration, financial services, telecommunications, and industrial activities continues to escalate.

Morocco has been chosen as a strategic location that combines technological sovereignty with energy transition, as facilities powered 100% by renewable sources will meet the significant energy demands of data centers. This is particularly critical given the rising energy consumption associated with massive data storage, AI tools, and high-performance computing capabilities. Moreover, training plays a central role in this project, as Cybastion and Cisco aspire to cultivate a 'future-ready digital workforce' capable of designing, managing, and securing the systems that will underpin the African economy, particularly in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, data management, and artificial intelligence.

The two companies have expressed their commitment to deepening their cooperation to foster 'inclusive and sustainable digital growth across the region', with the vision of making Morocco a regional hub for sovereign equipment, specialist training, and the dissemination of solutions tailored to the needs of African administrations. The partnership between Cisco's technological expertise and Cybastion's proficiency in digital infrastructures positions data mastery, cybersecurity, renewable energy, and training at the core of an architecture designed to prepare African administrations and economies for the changes brought about by the rise of AI.
