Dean Ahmed Qadim Breaks Silence Amid Controversy Over Leaked Recordings

Ahmed Qadim's Response to His Dismissal

Ahmed Qadim, the dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language at Cadi Ayyad University, has finally spoken out following his dismissal, which stemmed from leaked audio recordings that have sparked considerable controversy. In his statement, Qadim accused certain individuals within the academic institution of orchestrating the release of these recordings as part of what he termed a "settling of personal and professional scores." He detailed his side of the story via a post on his social media platforms, shedding light on the events leading to his current predicament.

According to Qadim, the first contact he received from the woman involved in the recordings dates back to 2008, when she introduced herself as a student suffering from psychological issues due to her attachment to him. He claimed that he attempted to encourage her to return to her studies and focus on her academic path. He emphasized that all of his responses, which were not made public, were aimed at supporting her educational journey, as he believed she was grappling with mental health challenges and was trying to assist her in overcoming her situation.

Qadim further revealed that the woman had blocked him in 2009, only for him to learn from another student in 2012 that she was not a student at all but was instead part of a scheme to lure him into conversations that were later recorded for the purpose of blackmail. He recounted how this same student helped him destroy the hard drive that contained those recordings, thus attempting to protect him from any potential fallout.

Later on, Qadim became aware that another copy of the recordings existed with a colleague at the university, who claimed that the recordings had been lost after moving to a new residence, only for them to resurface 18 years later. He views the re-emergence of the recordings as part of a deceptive context, linking their release to internal electoral conflicts within the academic institution.

In a strong denial, Qadim asserted that he has never met the woman in question even once in his life, maintaining that the release of the recordings is part of a targeted campaign against him due to his positions within the faculty. He specifically accused one professor of being behind the situation, referencing previous disagreements concerning academic theses that he claimed to have halted discussions on. Additionally, he mentioned confronting attempts to exploit the faculty by a civil association that sought to impose fees on students for publication-related services, asserting that he possesses documents and evidence to support his claims, which he is ready to present when necessary.

Qadim expressed his full willingness to undergo any judicial or administrative investigation to clarify all circumstances surrounding the case. In closing his statement, he directed a message to the Minister of Higher Education, urging a commitment to the rule of law and a pursuit of truth, while contending that his dismissal was made without allowing him the opportunity to present his narrative or without conducting thorough inquiries into the circulating facts. This statement follows the uproar caused by the release of dubious recordings allegedly featuring Ahmed Qadim and a student, leading to his removal from the deanship of the Faculty of Arabic Language in Marrakech.
