Fes Court Postpones Hearing for Hami-Din in Ben Issa Murder Case
According to available information, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Fes responded positively to a request from the defense of Abderrahim Hami-Din, a leader in the Justice and Development Party, who has faced charges in the case concerning the late Ben Issa Ait Jid for 33 years. This morning, the court decided to postpone the hearing to October 15 of this year. Hami-Din's attorney, Hussein Al-Abadi, represented him and requested sufficient time to prepare the defense. However, the lawyer Shaibi was absent from the session due to health issues.
Previously, the initial Criminal Chamber had issued a preliminary ruling convicting Hami-Din of "participation in assault leading to death without intent to kill," based on articles 129 and 403 of the Penal Code, after legally reclassifying the facts of the case. He was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay costs. In the civil aspect, the lower court accepted the claim in form and substance, obligating the accused to pay compensation of 20,000 dirhams to both Ibrahim Ait Jid and Hassan Ait Jid, along with a symbolic dirham to the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, in addition to bearing the costs within the limits of the adjudicated amount.
