DGM Issues Heatwave and Local Storm Warning for Morocco

Severe Weather Alert: Heatwave and Local Storms Expected

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a warning regarding an impending heatwave coupled with localized thunderstorms across several provinces in Morocco. This alert is particularly critical as the forecast indicates dangerously high temperatures ranging from 39°C to 44°C, expected to persist from Thursday through Friday. The provinces most affected by this extreme heat include Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Aousserd, and Tata. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the heat.

In addition to the heat, the DGM has highlighted the likelihood of local thunderstorms, which may bring rainfall amounts between 25 to 30 millimeters, particularly on Thursday afternoon from 1 PM to 10 PM. The provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Boulemane, El Hajeb, and Khenifra are expected to experience these stormy conditions, with associated risks of hail. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant during this period and stay updated on weather developments to ensure their safety.
