New Direct Flight Service Connecting Strasbourg and Marrakech
A new direct flight route between Strasbourg, France, and Marrakech, Morocco, was officially inaugurated on Sunday, operated by the low-cost airline EasyJet. This new service will connect Strasbourg-Entzheim Airport to Marrakech Menara Airport with two weekly flights scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays. The introduction of this direct link aims to enhance connectivity between the two cities, which previously relied largely on layovers or other connecting airports. This new route will provide passengers with a direct travel option, catering to both business and leisure travel, as well as facilitating the movement of diaspora communities.
According to Soumia Bouhamidi, the Consul General of Morocco in Strasbourg, this new flight route signifies the opening of a new gateway to increased cooperation, opportunities, and mobility between the two nations. Gilles Telliers, the president of Strasbourg International Airport, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the inaugural flight, which was fully booked in both directions on an Airbus A319 with a capacity of 157 seats. He noted that this new service meets the growing demand for connectivity between these two large metropolitan areas, greatly easing travel for families, students, entrepreneurs, and tourists alike.
This flight service is part of a broader initiative to expand air connectivity to Morocco, particularly as Marrakech continues to solidify its status as a major tourist destination and international connectivity hub. The newly launched route is one of several announced by EasyJet as part of its larger expansion strategy into the Moroccan market, which is expected to experience significant growth. The airline plans to operate an enhanced network with a total of 19 routes from seven French airports by 2026.
