Dr. Omar Halli's New Role at the Arab Open University

The distinguished Moroccan academic and researcher, Dr. Omar Halli, has recently been appointed as the President of the Arab Open University – Morocco Branch. This marks the establishment of the tenth branch of the Arab Open University (AOU), a subsidiary of the Open University in the United Kingdom, in the Salé region. The initiative aims to promote open and flexible higher education in Morocco. The university boasts a network of nine main branches, along with over 20 study centers across the Arab world, including countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Oman, Sudan, and Palestine. The AOU offers accredited programs in various fields such as computer science, business management, and linguistics, achieved through its validation partnership with the Open University in the UK. Utilizing a blended learning system, the university combines in-person attendance with flexible digital courses, allowing students to balance their studies with their time and location.

Dr. Omar Halli: A Notable Academic Journey

Professor Omar Halli is a renowned Moroccan academic and researcher, formerly the president of Ibn Zohr University in Agadir. He has served as an advisor to the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, and Scientific Research and is a member of the Higher Council of Education, Training, and Scientific Research. Furthermore, he is a member of the National Commission for the Coordination of Higher Education and an advisor to the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) at the Federation of Universities of the Islamic World (FUMI). Dr. Halli is also a founding member and coordinator of the International University Theater Festival in Agadir, a founding member and director of the International Film Festival on Migration, and a founding member of the International Festival of Culture and Arts, as well as the President of the Southern Cultures Association.

During his tenure, Ibn Zohr University in Agadir experienced unprecedented growth, both in terms of infrastructure and international partnerships. A specialist in contemporary literature and criticism, Dr. Halli has authored numerous works that have significantly enriched the scientific and cultural landscape in Morocco. Recognized for his academic and civic engagement, he has left a lasting impact on generations of students and researchers, establishing his career as a reference point in the country's academic and intellectual sphere.
