easyJet Expands Its Horizons: New African Base and Routes

easyJet Establishes Its First African Base in Marrakech

In a significant milestone for the airline, easyJet has inaugurated its first permanent base in Africa at Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK), strategically positioning three aircraft in Morocco's premier tourist destination. This landmark event comes as the airline celebrates two decades of service in Morocco, having successfully transported over 20 million passengers throughout the region. The establishment of this base is not only a testament to easyJet's growing presence in the African aviation market but also promises to enhance travel options for tourists and locals alike.

The launch event was marked by the participation of key figures, including easyJet CEO Kenton Jarvis, Achraf Fayda from the Moroccan National Tourist Office, and Adel El Fakir of the National Airports Office. The new base will create approximately 100 direct jobs and contribute to thousands of indirect employment opportunities, reinforcing easyJet's commitment to the economic development of the region through tourism and job creation.

New Routes to Enrich EasyJet's Moroccan Network

Alongside the opening of its Marrakech base, easyJet announced the introduction of six new routes to Morocco for the upcoming Winter 2026 season. Travelers can now book flights from Prague (PRG), Newcastle (NCL), and Zurich (ZRH) to Marrakech (RAK), with additional routes from Nantes (NTE) to Essaouira (ESU), Bordeaux (BOD) to Agadir (AGA), and Birmingham (BHX) to Agadir (AGA) set to be available for purchase later this spring. This expansion brings easyJet's total network in Morocco to an impressive 58 routes, including 30 direct flights to Marrakech, solidifying its position as the second-largest airline operating in the city.

Kenton Jarvis emphasized that the establishment of the base reflects easyJet's ongoing commitment to Morocco and highlights the airline's dedication to providing enhanced travel opportunities for both tourists and local residents. With this expansion, easyJet aims to strengthen its market presence while positively impacting the local economy through increased tourism and job creation.
