easyJet's Strategic Expansion to Morocco for Winter 2026-2027
In a bold move to strengthen its presence in the aviation market, low-cost airline easyJet has announced its winter schedule for 2026, focusing heavily on Morocco despite the currently challenging air travel landscape. The British carrier is set to launch new routes and make existing connections from France to Morocco permanent, thereby establishing the country as a key strategic hub in its operations.
Starting from October 25, 2026, easyJet will commence flights connecting Bordeaux to Agadir, with introductory fares starting at an attractive price of €50. Just two days later, the airline will inaugurate an exclusive route between Nantes and Essaouira. Additionally, routes connecting Lille and Strasbourg to Marrakech will transition to year-round service, with initial flights commencing on May 3, 2026. This expansion will result in a total of 21 routes between Morocco and France, serviced from seven airports across France, significantly boosting connectivity between the two nations.
New Base in Marrakech and Enhanced Service Offerings
EasyJet's expansion strategy coincides with the recent establishment of its first non-European base in Marrakech, opened in mid-April. This strategic move aims to attract a diverse clientele, including holidaymakers seeking sun during off-peak seasons, families traveling together, and individuals interested in easyJet's packaged travel offerings through "easyJet Holidays." While the winter plan includes additional regional and international destinations such as Cairo and the Canary Islands, the airline has emphasized that its low introductory fares do not cover baggage, which will incur additional charges.
The establishment of the Marrakech base will see the deployment of three aircraft and the launch of six new routes, with the airline aiming to provide four million seats in its first year of operation. This initiative is designed not only to enhance tourism to Morocco but also to solidify easyJet's commitment to expanding its services and offerings in Africa.
