The Moroccan National Tourism Office has officially announced the launch of a new operational base for the airline EasyJet in Marrakech, a strategic move aimed at enhancing air connectivity and bolstering the appeal of Morocco as a tourist destination. This new base, which will operate three aircraft stationed at Marrakech Menara Airport, is projected to provide approximately four million seats starting from the first year of operations, significantly increasing the capacity for flights to Morocco, especially from key European markets.
The inauguration of this base, the first of its kind for EasyJet in Africa, took place on April 15th, with the presence of the General Director of the Moroccan National Tourism Office, Achraf Faida, and EasyJet's General Director, Kenton Jarvis. This expansion will see the airline launch six new flight routes, bringing its total network to 58 routes connecting Morocco with some of the most important tourist-exporting markets, with plans for additional routes in 2026 and 2027 that will link Marrakech with various European cities.
EasyJet also plans to enhance its presence in Morocco by operating year-round flights from Marrakech to numerous European destinations while expanding its operations to include five Moroccan cities: Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira, and Tangier. This initiative is expected to create around 100 direct job opportunities, along with indirect job prospects, while supporting the tourism activities in Marrakech and its surrounding areas.
This development is part of a strategic partnership between the Moroccan National Tourism Office and EasyJet, aimed at improving air connectivity, diversifying tourist markets, and developing the tourism offerings in the Kingdom.
