EDGE Signs MoU to Enhance Local Manufacturing and Technology Transfer in Morocco
In a significant move aimed at bolstering local defense capabilities, EDGE, a leading defense technology group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Morocco's National Defense Administration. This agreement, formalized during the Marrakech Airshow 2026, sets the stage for exploring opportunities in the local production of high-performance light weapons and aircraft engines. The initiative not only symbolizes EDGE's commitment to meet its clients' needs through effective regional partnerships but also seeks to strengthen the supply chains and support services throughout the lifecycle of defense systems.
The MoU emphasizes EDGE's dedication to collaborating with qualified Moroccan companies, thus aiming to adapt manufacturing capabilities closer to customer requirements and contribute to the development of national sovereign industrial systems. This collaboration will enhance local capabilities, ensuring that the Moroccan armed forces benefit from advanced technology tailored to their operational needs.
As part of the same event, EDGE has secured a contract with the Moroccan National Defense Administration for the supply of guided munitions, including the Desert Sting (DS-16) glide weapon and the Thunder P-31 precision-guided munition. This contract further cements EDGE's long-term commitment to Morocco and the African continent, which is viewed as a priority market within the group's growth strategy. By employing flexible and open business models, EDGE tailors each program to meet customer operational requirements, integrating its systems with existing platforms effectively.
This strategic initiative marks a pivotal step for EDGE as it ventures into new markets, ensuring that Morocco becomes a hub for the production of advanced defense technologies in North Africa.
