Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – October 9, 2026 – EDGE, a leading defense technology group, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Morocco's National Defense Administration, the agency responsible for overseeing defense procurement for the Royal Armed Forces, during the Marrakech Airshow 2026. This agreement establishes a framework for exploring opportunities for local production within Morocco, specifically in the areas of high-performance light weapons and aviation engines, through collaboration with Moroccan companies.
The MOU exemplifies EDGE's commitment to meeting its clients' needs through effective regional partnerships. By collaborating with qualified local companies, EDGE aims to bring manufacturing capabilities closer to customers, enhance supply chains, and provide support services throughout the lifecycle of systems while contributing to the development of sovereign national industrial systems.
In this context, Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, stated, "The Kingdom of Morocco represents an important partner for EDGE in Africa, and this MOU reflects our partnership-based approach as the foundation for cooperation. Our model is based on knowledge exchange, production localization, and technology transfer, which contributes to building partnerships that create mutual value and support the growth of the national industry in parallel with expanding our business operations. By collaborating with Moroccan companies to localize the production of proven firearms and advanced aviation engines, we are working to support the establishment of an industrial base capable of meeting the Kingdom's defense requirements."
Karacal, a company specializing in the design and manufacture of high-performance light weapons and small-caliber munitions, and Powertech, which develops advanced aviation engines and propulsion systems for unmanned platforms and autonomous systems, are part of EDGE's integrated defense manufacturing ecosystem in the UAE. This ecosystem is designed to provide capabilities rapidly and at scale, and it is being extended to partner countries working to develop their own sovereign defense industrial bases.
