Dr. Samah Hefni, the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, participated in the opening of the eighth edition of the Marrakech International Airshow 2026, which is taking place from October 7 to 10 in the Moroccan city of Marrakech. This prestigious event has witnessed broad participation from official delegations and leading global companies and institutions operating in the fields of aviation, space, defense, and advanced technology.

The Egyptian participation aligns with the Ministry of Civil Aviation's ongoing efforts to enhance Egypt's presence at international specialized forums, familiarize itself with the latest technologies and developments in the aviation industry, explore opportunities for collaboration and investment, and showcase the capabilities of the Egyptian civil aviation sector.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Minister Hefni held bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations from Morocco, the UAE, and Qatar. These discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation in civil aviation, exchange expertise, support air connectivity, and explore partnership and investment opportunities that serve mutual interests.

Hefni emphasized that the rapid developments in the aviation industry necessitate continuous enhancement of operational and technological capabilities, in addition to fostering international cooperation. He pointed out the importance of establishing new partnerships in technology, operations, and service development to improve the sector's efficiency and keep pace with global changes.

He explained that Egypt possesses key attributes that qualify it to play a pivotal role in air transport, including its geographical location, extensive airport network, and specialized national expertise. He also noted that efforts are ongoing to develop infrastructure, enhance airport efficiency, and bolster the operational capabilities of national carriers.

The Minister of Aviation stated that these initiatives aim to expand the air connectivity network, serve existing markets, and open new markets, thereby supporting tourism, trade, and investment flows.

Furthermore, he highlighted that modernizing navigation systems, digital transformation, and the implementation of artificial intelligence applications represent key pillars in the plans to develop the aviation sector, alongside investment in training and qualifying national personnel to keep up with technological advancements.

Hefni mentioned that Egypt's strategic location and its network of airports provide vast opportunities to enhance air connectivity with regional and international markets, particularly African markets, thus supporting integration and opening new avenues for investment in the aviation sector and related services.

This year’s edition of the Marrakech International Airshow features approximately 200 exhibitors from 27 countries, along with high-level official delegations. The exhibition includes aerial displays, a static aircraft exhibition, and professional meetings between companies, government entities, and investors, as well as showcases of the latest innovations and technologies in the fields of aviation, space, and defense.
