Overview of the Upcoming Elections in Fes
As the election campaign officially commenced on September 10, 2026, after the conclusion of the initial nomination phase, the political landscape in Fes is heating up. A total of 41 local lists have been registered to contest for the 10 parliamentary seats allocated to the region, alongside 21 regional lists. This competitive environment has drawn the attention of 164 candidates, including 210 women competing across the various political entities, highlighting a significant effort towards gender representation in the electoral process.
Candidate Distribution and Political Dynamics
The Fes region is divided into two local constituencies, namely "Fes North" and "Fes South." In the Fes North constituency, which encompasses three collective districts—Marrin, Zouagha, and the city of Fes—21 local lists have been approved, representing an equal number of political bodies, with no independent candidates in sight. Conversely, the Fes South constituency includes the Agdal district, Jnan Lward, Saïss, and the municipalities of Ouled Tayeb and Sidi Harazem, where 20 local lists, again representing various political organizations, will compete for votes.
