Strengthening Youth Engagement in Morocco
The fourth edition of the national volunteer program 'Motatawi3' has been launched in Agadir, aimed at enhancing youth citizen participation and developing their knowledge and skills across various fields. This initiative, which kicked off on a Monday, has brought together 554 young individuals from the Souss-Massa region, marking a significant step towards fostering civic engagement among Moroccan youth.
Initiated by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, participants in the 'Motatawi3' program will have the opportunity to engage in educational workshops and training sessions covering a wide array of sectors. These include critical areas such as energy transition, sustainable development, digital content creation, human rights, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and environmental sustainability. The comprehensive approach of the program is designed to equip young people with the tools necessary to navigate and contribute positively to the evolving societal landscape.
In a statement to MAP, Hicham Zelouach, the director of the Youth Department for the Souss-Massa region, highlighted that the first phase of the program focuses on themes related to public governance. This initial phase sets the foundation for the second phase, which will enable young individuals to engage in volunteer activities, applying the knowledge and skills they have acquired. The program has garnered support from several departments to ensure its success, including the National Initiative for Human Development, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, the National Agency for Employment and Skills Promotion, the National Human Rights Council, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and the Youth Department.
Launched in 2023, 'Motatawi3' aims to involve youth from all regions of the Kingdom in a comprehensive program that unfolds in two main stages centered around training and volunteering. The ultimate goal is to strengthen their civic participation, enhance their knowledge, and refine their skills, allowing them to experience an enriching, inclusive, and diverse journey.
