Comprehensive Coordination Across Moroccan Airports
The recent operation to facilitate Hajj 2026 has effectively engaged several airports across Morocco, including Casablanca Mohammed V, Rabat-Salé, Marrakech Menara, Agadir Al Massira, Fès Saïss, Tanger Ibn Battouta, Oujda Angads, Ouarzazate, and Dakhla. According to a statement from the National Airports Office (ONDA), this national coordination was crucial to ensure a seamless service experience across all travel routes. In total, 91 flights have been scheduled from these nine airports to Medina and Jeddah, operated primarily by Royal Air Maroc and various Saudi airlines.
Royal Air Maroc played a pivotal role in this operation, demonstrating its commitment to the national air transport framework by mobilizing both its teams and operational capabilities. ONDA supported this initiative by working closely with a range of institutional and operational partners, including the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the National Security Directorate, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration, along with airlines, handlers, and various airport operators. This collaborative effort was structured around three main priorities: anticipating and regulating passenger flows, continuously improving the passenger experience, and enhancing the reception and support systems for pilgrims and their families.
Innovative Measures for Pilgrim Support
At Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, the primary hub for Hajj operations, Terminal 3 has been fully configured to accommodate Hajj flights, with an emphasis on ensuring smooth passenger flow, clarity of movement, and overall comfort. Dedicated areas have been established from the terminal's external access points, complemented by specific signage, information points, orientation measures, and an integrated organization of various travel stages.
The 2026 edition also marked a significant advancement in the 'Tarik Makkah' program, which has been implemented for the fifth consecutive year at Terminal 3 in Casablanca and, for the first time, extended to Rabat-Salé Airport. This initiative, coordinated between Moroccan and Saudi authorities, enables pilgrims to complete all necessary Saudi immigration, biometric checks, and baggage processing directly at Moroccan airports prior to departure. The extension of 'Tarik Makkah' to Rabat-Salé represents a major evolution for the 2026 edition, showcasing Morocco's commitment to enhancing facilitation measures for pilgrims.
In addition to ground operations, ONDA has maintained a support system accessible seven days a week through its customer relationship center and a dedicated hotline for the Hajj operation. This initiative ensures continuous information flow and responsive handling of inquiries from pilgrims and their families. Through this operation, ONDA confirms its capability to manage complex national initiatives with a strong human dimension, uniting the entire airport chain under a shared commitment to operational excellence and service quality, perfectly aligned with the Airports 2030 strategy.
