Collaborative Efforts for Sustainable Fishing and Eco-Tourism
The recent initiative aimed at boosting fish stocks in the Oukaimeden region was conducted under the supervision of the National Agency for Water and Forests, with technical support from the National Center for Aquatic Living Resources and Fish Farming based in Azrou. This initiative also saw the active participation of the Moroccan University of Ecological Fishing, along with local associations such as "Nakhil" and "Atlas" dedicated to fishing using traditional methods and environmental conservation.
The primary goal of this intervention is to not only replenish the fish population in the area but also to enhance the appeal of Oukaimeden Lake as a prime destination for eco-tourism. Additionally, it aims to promote sports and ecological fishing practices, which are increasingly gaining popularity among both locals and visitors.
It's important to note that Oukaimeden Lake, located approximately 30 kilometers south of Marrakech in the Ourika Valley, plays a crucial role in providing drinking water and irrigation for the surrounding region. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to sustainable local development, reflecting the vital intersection of environmental conservation and community well-being.
