Enhancing Urban Transport: Strict Measures Against Taxi Drivers Violating Regulations

In a concerted effort to regulate the urban transport sector and improve the quality of services offered to both Moroccan citizens and foreign tourists, authorities have implemented a series of punitive measures targeting taxi drivers who refuse to activate their meters while providing services. These measures are part of a broader initiative to enforce the legal and regulatory provisions governing the taxi industry, which mandates that drivers adhere to the established fare rates by using the meter. The meter is recognized as the only legal means to determine the fare for a journey fairly and equitably.

Consequently, in cases where drivers are found to violate the requirement to activate the meter, whether through complaints from passengers or other means, a decision will be made to revoke the driver's trust license according to the applicable procedures. This decision will follow a thorough verification of the information presented in the complaint, along with the necessary administrative actions.

In this context, a total of 418 trust licenses were revoked in the year 2025 alone, with 50 licenses being withdrawn since the beginning of the current year. This trend reflects the ongoing commitment to enforce these stringent measures, ensuring adherence to the laws and enhancing the quality of urban transportation services.
