Critical Mineral Resources plc (CMR), a prominent player in the mining sector, has announced promising assay results from 21 recently completed diamond drillholes at its flagship Agadir Melloul project, located in the mineral-rich region of central Morocco. Among these findings are two significant high-grade silver intercepts that could signify the presence of a distinct, fault-controlled high-grade silver structure, a development that has generated considerable excitement within the industry.

The Agadir Melloul Project is a sediment-hosted copper deposit situated in the Western Anti-Atlas area of Morocco, approximately 250 kilometers southwest of Marrakech and 240 kilometers from the deep-water port of Agadir. The mining license and permits for the Agadir Melloul project encompass an area of around 65 square kilometers, positioning it as a key site for copper (Cu), silver (Ag), and gold (Au) mineralization.

Key Highlights from the Drill Results

Recent drilling has unveiled notable copper and silver grades, including:

  • 8 meters at 0.58% Cu, 147 g/t Ag, and 0.26 g/t Au from 63 meters in drillhole BH 174, featuring a remarkable subsection of 1.6 meters at 1.67% Cu, 695 g/t Ag, and 0.40 g/t Au and another 0.2 meters at 10.24% Cu, 5,390 g/t Ag, and 2.80 g/t Au.
  • 1 meter at 0.72% Cu, 402 g/t Ag, and 0.36 g/t Au from 34 meters in drillhole BH 175.
  • 5 meters at 0.55% Cu, 4 g/t Ag, and 0.05 g/t Au from 79.3 meters in drillhole BH 175.
  • 5.5 meters at 0.55% Cu, 1 g/t Ag, and 0.05 g/t Au from 70.5 meters in drillhole BH 178.
  • 10.2 meters at 0.72% Cu, 5 g/t Ag, and 0.05 g/t Au from 41 meters in drillhole BH 160, including 1 meter at 2.46% Cu, 20 g/t Ag, and 0.05 g/t Au.
  • 7.7 meters at 0.51% Cu, 1 g/t Ag, and 0.05 g/t Au from 22 meters in drillhole BH 161.

Of particular note are the high-grade copper and silver intercepts in drillholes 174 and 175, which are associated with distinct massive sulphide lens material and intense quartz carbonate veining. These intercepts seem to correlate with the nearby NNW fault, a geological feature that may control the mineralization observed.

Drillhole BH 174 yielded an impressive assay of 5.4 kg per tonne silver, 2.8 g/t gold, and 10.2% copper over a short interval of 0.2 meters, indicating a new style of mineralization that could become a critical target for future exploration efforts.

Future Exploration and Insights

Charlie Long, CEO of CMR, expressed enthusiasm over these results, noting, "This is an excellent result for the company and something new and unexpected. Initial geological interpretation suggests that the high-grade silver mineralization is associated with a fault-controlled structure, which presents a new exploration target alongside our primary sedimentary copper focus. The remarkable 2.6-meter intercept grading 430 grams per tonne silver underscores the potential for further discoveries in this region."

As the company continues its drilling efforts, the focus will be on resource delineation and infill work to enhance the geological understanding of the sediment-hosted copper mineralization. A total of 272 drillholes have been completed, resulting in over 11,347 meters of drilling, with 2,137 samples submitted for analysis. The results from the laboratory are anticipated in the coming weeks, which will provide further insights into the copper mineralization and overall potential of the Agadir Melloul project.
