The Draw for the Professional League Unveils Thrilling Early Matchups

On the evening of August 28, 2026, the draw for the upcoming season of the Moroccan Professional League, encompassing both the first and second divisions, was conducted at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. According to Abdel Salam Belqashour, the president of the National Professional Football League, the competition is set to kick off on September 24, 2026. The first round of matches promises to deliver high-stakes action, featuring a heated encounter between the Royal Army and Raja Casablanca, alongside another intense matchup between Nahdat Berkan and the Royal Army in the second round.

The eagerly anticipated derby between Raja and Wydad Athletic Club is scheduled for round 11, while the classic clash between Wydad and the Royal Army will take place in round eight. During the draw ceremony, Belqashour announced a financial incentive of 10 million dirhams (approximately one million USD) as a reward for the champion of the first division. Furthermore, he explained that the prize distribution will be structured to benefit the top five teams, while clubs finishing in lower positions will receive compensation based on their investment in youth players and financial management expertise.

Belqashour emphasized that simply achieving a good sporting result will not guarantee a club's promotion to the first division in future seasons; criteria also include the possession of adequate infrastructure and financial capabilities that meet established standards. It is noteworthy that the previous edition of the league was won by FUS Rabat, who received a financial prize of 6 million dirhams, with Nahdat Berkan finishing second and Raja Casablanca in third place.

Here is the schedule for the first round of the Professional League - First Division:

  • FUS Rabat vs. Nahdat Zemamra
  • Royal Army vs. Raja Casablanca
  • Al-Hassani Dakhla vs. Club Meknes
  • Wydad AC vs. Wydad Temara
  • Ittihad Amel Tiznit vs. Ittihad Tangier

Importantly, the league organization has decided to conduct the first division of the professional league for the upcoming season with 16 teams, responding to demands from various clubs seeking to increase the number of participants to 20 teams.
