About ODCO and Its Mission

Established on September 18, 1962, the Bureau of Development of Cooperation has undergone significant transformations over the years due to the growing importance of the cooperative sector. It evolved into an autonomous public institution known as the Office for the Development of Cooperation (ODCO) in accordance with the Dahir of August 3, 1975. This institution is dedicated to supporting cooperatives through training, information dissemination, and legal assistance. The ODCO is overseen by a board of directors, which includes representatives from various ministries, public institutions, banks, and cooperatives, with the Minister of Handicrafts and Social Economy and Solidarity serving as the president.

According to Law No. 112-12, the primary responsibilities of the ODCO encompass approving requests for validation of names, maintaining a central registry of cooperatives, assisting cooperatives and their unions in training, information, and legal support, financing outreach campaigns for cooperative education, and ensuring compliance of cooperatives with existing legislation. Additionally, the ODCO is tasked with collecting and disseminating information related to cooperatives and proposing legislative reforms to foster the creation and development of cooperatives.
