Expected Weather Fluctuations in Morocco: Rain Showers and Snow Ahead of Eid al-Fitr

Weather Changes Anticipated Across Morocco

According to the General Directorate of Meteorology, fluctuations in weather conditions are expected across Morocco in the coming days, coinciding with the period leading up to the anticipated Eid al-Fitr holiday, which is expected to fall on Friday or Saturday. Initial forecasts indicate that the weather may remain variable during this period, with a chance of some clouds and winds in several regions, alongside a slight and gradual increase in temperatures during the daytime as the weekend approaches.

In this context, Hussein Yoabed, the communication officer at the General Directorate of Meteorology, explained that current meteorological data suggest that relatively unstable weather will continue in various regions of the kingdom over the coming days, with the possibility of localized rain showers that could be thunderous at times. Additionally, snow is expected to fall on the Atlas mountain ranges, coupled with occasionally strong gusts of wind in several areas.

Day-by-Day Forecast

On Monday, the weather is anticipated to remain relatively cold in the Atlas mountains, the Rif, and the eastern high plateaus, while clouds from the tropical regions in the far south of the country may bring localized thunderous rain showers. The forecast also indicates that the weather may be partly cloudy in desert regions, with a likelihood of scattered showers. There is also a possibility of local fog or light drizzle over the central Atlantic plains and southern coasts. Moderate to strong winds are expected in some areas, particularly in Tangier, the southern regions, and locally in the Atlas mountain ranges and Saïs region.

Temperature highs are expected to range between 8 and 15 degrees Celsius in the Atlas and Rif mountains, 16 to 22 degrees along the Mediterranean coast and eastern regions, and between 28 and 34 degrees in the desert regions, while other areas of the kingdom are forecasted to see temperatures ranging from 21 to 28 degrees.

As for Tuesday, relatively cold weather is expected to persist in the Atlas and Rif mountains and the eastern high plateaus, with the possibility of rain and localized thunderous showers expected in eastern desert regions. The weather is also expected to be partly cloudy in the central and southeastern regions, the Greater Atlas, and the northern parts of the desert regions, with a chance of scattered rain showers, possibly accompanied by thunder.

By the evening, cloud cover is expected to gradually increase over the central areas, the northern Atlantic plains, the Greater Atlas, and its western foothills and southeastern regions, along with a possibility of localized thunderous showers. Snowfall is anticipated on the peaks of the Greater Atlas starting in the evening.

Minimum temperatures are expected to range from -2 to 5 degrees Celsius in the Atlas mountains and eastern high plateaus, from 5 to 10 degrees along the Mediterranean coast and the Rif, from 15 to 23 degrees in the Sous region and the south, and from 10 to 15 degrees in other areas, with a decrease in temperatures expected during the day in the central and southern regions, while a relative increase is anticipated in the remaining areas.

Weather fluctuations are expected to continue on Wednesday, with snow expected on the peaks of the Greater Atlas, and localized rain in the Atlantic plains south of El Jadida and in the Sous region. The weather will be partly cloudy with sporadic showers in the northern Atlantic plains, the Rif, Saïs, the Greater and Middle Atlas, the Mediterranean region, the eastern and southeastern regions, and the southern coasts.

Moderate to strong winds are expected over the Atlas mountains, the central regions, the southeast, the southern eastern regions, and the southern provinces, potentially accompanied by local dust storms, while temperatures are predicted to rise during the day on the Atlantic coasts and in the south, with declines in other regions.

Regarding forecasts from Thursday through the weekend, data indicates a tendency towards variable weather across most areas of the kingdom, with the possibility of occasional relatively strong winds in the Tangier region, the Atlas mountains, and the central and southeastern regions, along with the southern provinces, possibly accompanied by local dust storms. A slight and gradual increase in daytime temperatures is expected across various regions of the country, maintaining the overall variable nature of weather conditions.
