A Unique Wellness Retreat at Amanjena
Amanjena, the luxurious Aman resort nestled in an olive grove south of Marrakech, has announced a unique opportunity for its guests. From December 18 to 20, 2026, the resort will host a three-day wellness retreat titled "Stillness and Strength," led by the world-renowned tennis champion Novak Djokovic, who serves as the global ambassador and wellness advisor for the Aman group. While Djokovic will be at the helm of this exclusive retreat, the focus will be on enhancing participants' well-being rather than celebrity status. This retreat aims to be the most distinguished offering in Amanjena's winter season.
The registration for this limited-space program is now open, and unlike traditional reservations, interested guests must inquire directly with the resort to secure their spot. The timing of this retreat is strategic; mid-December marks the transition from Marrakech's peak autumn season into the festive weeks, a period when the region's palatial accommodations fill to capacity. By offering a signature program right before Christmas, Amanjena creates a compelling reason for travelers to visit during a time when resorts typically rely solely on climate to attract guests.
Program Highlights and Luxury Amenities
The retreat features an engaging curriculum with four key components. Participants will enjoy tennis masterclasses led by Djokovic himself, who boasts an impressive record of twenty-four Grand Slam titles. In addition to tennis, attendees will experience daily sessions focused on mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork, all guided by Djokovic and the wellness experts at Amanjena. The core theme of the retreat revolves around mental discipline, equipping guests with tools to thrive under pressure, both on and off the court.
Amanjena is well-equipped to host this retreat, featuring two sand courts and a full range of tennis programs offered year-round through LUX Tennis Academy, staffed by coaches with experience on the ATP and WTA tours. Moreover, the retreat includes two signature treatments: a 60-minute Beldi hammam and a therapeutic argan oil massage, as well as access to the resort's exceptional wellness facilities. The resort’s spa features four private treatment rooms and two traditional Moroccan hammams, where guests can indulge in rituals using black Beldi soap, Kessa gloves, and Rhassoul clay sourced from the Atlas Mountains.
In addition to these offerings, Amanjena has recently upgraded its fitness facilities with state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment and established a movement studio on the upper floor, beautifully adorned with light wood flooring around a cozy fireplace. The resort also boasts a heated outdoor pool measuring 33 meters and a children’s pool, creating an ideal environment for relaxation and rejuvenation. This extensive array of amenities not only enhances the program but also complements the renowned presence of its host.
The culinary aspect of the retreat will be curated by Novak Djokovic himself, with daily menus designed to support the body throughout the three-day experience. While specific dietary guidelines have not been disclosed, the resort’s kitchens will ensure that the meals align with the overall wellness theme. Amanjena features four dining venues, including the Moroccan Restaurant set in a charming patio, a pool terrace overlooking the olive grove, a branch of Arva, the Aman group's seasonal Italian dining, and a bar adorned with dark pink walls. Private dinners can also be arranged in the Kaidal tent located within the gardens, offering an intimate dining experience.
Since opening in 2000 as the first Aman property on the African continent, Amanjena has been designed by American architect Ed Tuttle, who has crafted several properties for the Aman brand. The layout centers around a monumental irrigation basin framed by a series of pink arcades, surrounded by olive and palm trees, with the majestic High Atlas mountains providing a stunning backdrop. The accommodation consists of eight categories of pavilions and villas, many of which feature their own heated pools, with the largest two-bedroom villa spanning an impressive 360 square meters across two levels.
Conveniently located along Route de Ouarzazate, km 12, on the outskirts of Marrakech, Amanjena is just a twenty-minute drive from Menara Airport and mere minutes from the vibrant Medina and the famous Djemaa el-Fna square. Every stay includes transfers to and from the airport, breakfast, and afternoon tea, ensuring a seamless experience for guests.
This December retreat exemplifies the evolving landscape of wellness in luxury hospitality. Rather than merely offering spa services and treatment menus, resorts are now marketing experiences with defined start and end dates, crafted content, and limited participation, transforming the retreat into a calendar event akin to a seminar. Aman has already experimented with this model in the past. At Amangiri in Utah, a three-day detox program bears the same player’s signature, although the resort clarifies that he will not be present. In contrast, Amanjena emphasizes the physical presence of Djokovic, which accounts for the limited participant count and the inquiry-based booking process.
While details regarding pricing and the number of available spots remain undisclosed, the promise of this retreat stands strong, given that the resort is already equipped with everything necessary to facilitate the program: two sand courts, a spa with four treatment rooms, a newly established movement studio, and a team accustomed to accommodating special requests. The risk associated with a hosted retreat is that the venue may overshadow the guest; however, Amanjena's picturesque setting, particularly its central pool, is sure to leave a lasting impression on attendees. We have not yet had the pleasure of staying at Amanjena; however, we plan to visit in December to evaluate what this exquisite resort has to offer as the Atlas Mountains are blanketed in snow and the palm grove begins to quiet.
