Unveiling the Rich Heritage of Four Villages
On the occasion of the 43rd European Heritage Days, the villages surrounding Tarascon are set to showcase the diverse riches they harbor. In Miglos, the local association, Friends of the Castle of Miglos, will host a captivating exhibition featuring vintage photographs that provide a glimpse into the daily lives of its residents during the first half of the 20th century. Visitors are invited to the Norgeat community hall to immerse themselves in this historical journey on Saturday from 2 PM to 5 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM. Additionally, the castle will present a recital by the Zinzibulantes on Sunday at 6 PM. This unique female duo, known for their eclectic vocal performances that blend lyrical, jazzy, and onomatopoeic styles, will create a whimsical atmosphere celebrating nature. The recital is free of charge and funded by the local council, with an alternative venue at the church of Norgeat in case of inclement weather.
Heritage Activities in Rabat-les-Trois-Seigneurs and Surrounding Areas
In Rabat-les-Trois-Seigneurs, the Friends of the Courbière Valley association will guide visitors through a tour of the historic Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption. This protected edifice boasts remarkable furnishings, including a classified altarpiece, exquisite pieces of silverwork, and captivating paintings. This free guided visit will occur on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM, in collaboration with the History and Heritage Association of the Tarascon region, which will also present an exhibition titled "The White Gold of Tarascon," inspired by the works of Claude Builles.
Meanwhile, the Sédour limestone peak, which has historically enriched the villages of Surba, Bédeilhac, and Arignac with its gypsum quarries, will be the focus of several activities. At Surba, visitors can explore the plaster factory that operated until 1957 at the southern foot of Sédour. This free guided tour is available on Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM, although it is not wheelchair accessible. On the northern slope, a scenic walk will trace the initial steps of industrialization in the Tarascon region, leading curious participants to a 19th-century plaster mill. This shaded path, reopened as part of the "A Path, A School" initiative by the Arignac school, offers both guided and independent exploration on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 4 PM. The tour is accessible to all but not suitable for those with mobility challenges, covering approximately 2 kilometers.
The Arignac school will also engage visitors with a walk and quiz about the wonders of Sédour. Local children collaborated with the Around the Sédour association to study the remains of the old plaster mill and the flora and fauna of their village. They have also created enhancements and decorations to make this woodland stroll memorable. Following the walk, visitors can participate in a quiz in the community hall, available on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM.
