Discovering the Latest Trends in Beauty
For those seeking insight into the future of the cosmetics industry, Morocco is the place to be. The ninth edition of the Cosmetista Expo North & West Africa, held in Casablanca, showcased the latest innovations and trends shaping the beauty landscape. Among the most notable trends is the significant rise in vegan products, which are guaranteed to be free from animal-derived substances. Walid Mady, a representative from Goldery & More, a brand specializing in hair care products, observes, "Ten years ago, people were more interested in organic products. Today, they are increasingly turning to vegan products to avoid any ingredients that could damage their hair or skin. The current trend is leaning more towards safe and gentle products."
The exhibition featured a diverse range of offerings, from skin treatments marketed as natural to detoxifying hair care products and therapeutic solutions. The cosmetics industry is keen to promote an approach that harmonizes beauty with health. This is exemplified by Faisal Harkous, a semi-permanent makeup specialist from Lebanon, whose eyebrow products can aid cancer patients. Harkous explains, "Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy often lose their hair and eyebrows. While wigs can help with hair loss, solutions have also been developed for eyebrows. Today, there are microblading, micro-shading, and shading techniques available."
Technological Innovations Transforming Beauty
The beauty trends at the expo also reflect the growing influence of artificial intelligence. The DermaView skin analysis device utilizes AI to provide a "comprehensive diagnosis of skin quality," according to Nihad Al Khoumani, a sales consultant at Specta, a Moroccan company specializing in medical-aesthetic equipment. The 2026 edition of the Cosmetista Expo, which took place from May 16 to 19, brought together 135 international exhibitors from Morocco, Italy, France, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, highlighting the global nature of the beauty industry.
