Extremadura Avante Launches Commercial Mission to Morocco 2026 for Local Businesses

The Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE) has announced the launch of a new initiative by Extremadura Avante Servicios Avanzados a Pymes SLU, aimed at facilitating the participation of local businesses in the Commercial Mission to Morocco 2026, as of April 17, 2026. This initiative is designed to promote the internationalization of Extremadura-based companies and enhance their export capabilities, thereby contributing to the growth of the regional business landscape by enabling access to new markets for their products and services.

Set to take place in Casablanca from September 14 to September 18, 2026, the Commercial Mission to Morocco aims to explore the Moroccan market and establish vital connections that will aid in introducing or consolidating participating companies' offerings within the country. The initiative is open to a maximum of eight participants and encompasses a multisectoral approach, including industries such as chemicals, food and beverages, construction, wholesale trade, business services, and recreational/cultural services.

Companies selected for this mission will benefit from professional promotion services, market advisory support, and logistical assistance, all aimed at optimizing their commercial presence during their stay in Morocco. Spain remains Morocco's primary trading partner, with bilateral trade surpassing €22.7 billion in 2025, highlighting the deepening economic ties between the two nations on the international stage.

In 2025, Spain exported approximately €12.33 billion worth of goods to Morocco, solidifying its position as one of Spain's top non-EU export destinations and its leading trading partner in Africa. Additionally, over 350 Spanish companies have established a foothold in Morocco, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, automotive auxiliary industries, and services, contributing significantly to economic development and strengthening bilateral market relations.

The commercial relationship between Spain and Morocco continues to demonstrate sustained growth and intensity, driven by geographical proximity, integrated value chains, and the gradual opening of the Moroccan economy. Spain also maintains its status as Morocco's largest supplier, underscoring the strategic importance of this market for the Spanish export sector.

Overall, Morocco is emerging as a strategic trade partner for both Spain and Extremadura, not only due to its dynamic market but also as a gateway to other North African markets. The deadline for submitting applications for this initiative will be six working days following its announcement in the DOE, specifically from April 20 to April 27, 2026, inclusive.
