Famous Moroccan Rapper Gims Arrested in France Amid Money Laundering Investigation

The renowned Moroccan rapper Gims, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna and who is currently 39 years old, was placed in police custody on March 25 in France. This action was part of an investigation concerning money laundering linked to an organized crime network.

According to reports, the police apprehended him at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he was entering France, subsequently placing him in custody for questioning. The case is being conducted under a "commission rogatoire," which means it is overseen by investigating judges and is also under the jurisdiction of the public prosecutor's office specialized in combating organized crime.

Reports indicate that Gims' name has appeared in a file containing numerous companies across different countries, which are allegedly being used to evade taxes such as VAT, create fraudulent invoices, and launder money derived from illegal activities.

Additionally, there are allegations concerning a luxurious real estate project in Marrakech named "Sunset Village Private Residences," which may be implicated in this investigation. Furthermore, five individuals previously involved in drug trafficking and who later transitioned into financial crimes are also part of this case.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no final verdict has been reached. Gims' lawyer has not provided any statements at this stage. The truth will likely emerge as the inquiry progresses.
