Fes Administrative Court Orders Compensation for Dog Bite Victim

Fes Municipality Held Liable for Dog Bite Incident

The Fes Administrative Court has recently ruled that the municipality of Fes, led by Mayor Abdel Salam Boukali, must pay compensation for a dog bite incident involving a child. This ruling comes amidst growing concerns over the increasing number of stray dogs roaming the streets and neighborhoods of the city, posing a threat to the safety of residents. The court's decision was based on a complaint filed by the child's father following the attack, which occurred in March 2025.

The court ordered the municipality to pay a total of 36,000 dirhams to the child's legal guardian as compensation for the injuries sustained during the attack. Medical assessments confirmed that the child was bitten on the leg by a stray dog, leading to the court's decision to grant the compensation after a thorough evaluation of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This is not the first instance where the Fes Administrative Court has mandated the local government to compensate victims of dog bites. Previous cases have seen varying compensation amounts awarded to individuals who have reported similar incidents, demonstrating a concerning trend regarding public safety and the municipality's responsibility in addressing the growing stray dog population.
