Fes Declares Preliminary Election Results
In a significant political event, the Fes-Meknes regional authority announced the preliminary results of the legislative elections late Wednesday night. The data revealed varying participation rates and outcomes between the southern and northern electoral districts of Fes, alongside results from the regional circuit which allocated ten seats specifically for women. In the southern electoral district of Fes, the voter turnout was recorded at 27.56%, with 63,554 individuals casting their ballots, leading to a total of 50,178 valid votes.
Leading the results was the Justice and Development Party (PJD), represented by candidate Mohamed Khiyi, who garnered 12,367 votes, accounting for 24.60% of the valid votes. Following closely was the Popular Movement, with candidate Khalid Al-Ajli receiving 9,188 votes, or 18.27%. The Authenticity and Modernity Party came in third, with candidate Aziz Labar achieving 6,060 votes, representing 12.05%. The National Rally of Independents, through candidate Zina Shahim, secured 5,941 votes, which is 11.83% of the total.
In this context, the top four parties in the southern district, namely the PJD, Popular Movement, Authenticity and Modernity Party, and the National Rally of Independents, successfully obtained the parliamentary seats allocated for this district.
Results from Northern Fes District
Conversely, in the northern electoral district of Fes, the participation rate reached 25.90%, with 54,337 voters from a total of 209,759 registered electors. The PJD once again dominated this district, with candidate Abdelmajid Benshenouf collecting 9,943 votes, representing 24.68% of the votes cast. The Popular Movement followed with 7,515 votes, represented by candidate Reem Shabat, achieving 18.65%. The Authenticity and Modernity Party placed third with 6,456 votes, led by candidate Mohsin Al-Azami Al-Idrisi, which is 16.03%. The Independence Party secured fourth place with 4,420 votes, represented by candidate Hassan Slaigou, equating to 10.97%.
In terms of the regional electoral district of Fes, which includes ten seats designated for women, the Authenticity and Modernity Party led the results with 102,283 votes, translating to 21.81%, thus acquiring one of the seats allocated in this district. The Justice and Development Party followed in second place with 78,497 votes, then the Independence Party, the Popular Movement, the Progress and Socialism Party, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, and finally the Democratic Social Movement.
The Fes administrative authority confirmed that the total votes received by various political entities across their lists in this district amounted to 468,992 votes, showcasing a vibrant democratic engagement in the region.
