Fes Festival of World Sacred Music Announces Its 29th Edition Celebrating Craftsmanship and Heritage

Fes Festival of World Sacred Music: A Celebration of Tradition and Artistry

The enchanting city of Fes, renowned as a center of spirituality and artisanal skills, is set to host the 29th edition of the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music from June 4 to June 7, 2026. This year’s festival promises a richer and more intensive program than ever before, with a focus on honoring the remarkable contributions of artisans and teachers who have safeguarded traditional crafts and heritage.

This year, the festival will celebrate its esteemed guests of honor, the artisans, who play a pivotal role in preserving cultural heritage. The theme for this edition is "Fes and the Teachers, Guardians of Craft and Heritage," which highlights the importance of these individuals in the history of Fes and Morocco. The festival aims to showcase their critical contributions to the construction of exceptional sites and their dedication to passing on their skills to future generations.

Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the festival will not only honor the legacy of these artisans but will also facilitate dialogues between various cultures and artistic expressions. A special collaboration between the German Embassy and the Spirit of Fes Foundation will commemorate seventy years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Morocco through a unique performance that blends the renowned work "Bodies" by artist Kat Franke with authentic Amazigh music.

A Rich Program Filled with Innovations

The 2026 edition of the festival is more than just a celebration; it is a heartfelt acknowledgment of the teachers’ critical role as guardians of our collective heritage. As articulated by Abdelfattah Zouiten, President of the Spirit of Fes Foundation, "Through them, we not only celebrate heritage but also uphold the promise of preserving beauty and sustaining a legacy that uplifts humanity." Over the years, the Fes Festival has gained recognition as the foremost festival of its kind, successfully establishing itself as a bridge between cultures and spiritualities. Recently, it was honored with the prestigious "Mercurio Alato" award, Italy’s highest accolade for cultural diplomacy, recognizing its unique commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue through art and music.

Festival-goers can anticipate an exciting lineup featuring four venues, over 160 artists, and 18 musical performances. This year’s program includes innovative elements and offers a rich experience for attendees, with morning concerts designed to provide powerful moments of discovery and enjoyment. As the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes is set to once again shine as a vibrant center of culture and artistry during this remarkable event.
