Economic Growth in Fes-Meknes Region

The Fes-Meknes region has demonstrated remarkable economic dynamism in the first quarter of 2026, witnessing the establishment of a total of 1,792 new businesses, as reported by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property. This impressive figure comprises 1,183 companies owned by legal entities and 609 by individual entrepreneurs, underscoring the region's ongoing appeal for investment and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Sector Distribution and Business Types

Leading this growth, the city of Fes recorded the highest number of new establishments, with 923 companies, followed by Meknes, which saw the creation of 500 businesses. Other cities in the region contributed as well, with both Sefrou and Taza each adding 104 new businesses, while Hajeb registered 49, Taounate 42, and Azrou 38. Finally, Boulemane brought up the rear with 32 new companies.

In terms of economic sectors, the commerce sector dominated the landscape, accounting for 36.34% of the new businesses, followed by the construction and public works sectors, along with real estate, which made up 22.01%. Various services represented 14.69% of the new establishments. Furthermore, the data revealed that single-member limited liability companies were predominant, representing 63.6% of the newly established businesses. On a national scale, the total number of new businesses created across Morocco reached 25,520 by the end of the first quarter of the current year.
