Fes-Meknes Council Unanimously Approves New Development Projects in Ifrane and Sefrou

Unanimous Approval of Strategic Development Initiatives

The Fes-Meknes Regional Council convened an important session on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ifrane Provincial Directorate, under the leadership of Council President Abdel Wahid Ansari. The session was attended by the Wali of the Fes-Meknes region, Professor Khalid Ait Taleb, along with the head of the Ifrane Provincial Directorate. This meeting aimed to enhance the region's infrastructure through various developmental initiatives.

During this session, a comprehensive agenda was discussed, which included six strategic points that were extensively deliberated. A key focus was the study and approval of vital partnership agreements, notably those related to the construction and equipping of civil protection relief centers. These centers are intended to be distributed across all provinces and delegations in the region, ensuring that emergency response services are readily available and that citizens and their properties are protected from potential hazards.

Addressing Urban Development and Economic Growth

The council also dedicated significant attention to issues of spatial justice and urban rehabilitation. A partnership agreement aimed at rehabilitating and developing emerging centers in the Ifrane region was approved. Additionally, a major partnership was sanctioned for financing and executing a comprehensive urban rehabilitation program for the city of Sefrou, covering the years 2026, 2027, and 2028. This initiative is designed to modernize its urban landscape and enhance its infrastructure.

On the economic and agricultural front, the council approved a strategic partnership agreement to establish a new-generation wholesale market for agricultural and food products in the Fes-Meknes region. This promising project is expected to streamline distribution channels and modernize the local economy.

The session concluded in an atmosphere of complete consensus, with all agenda items receiving thorough study and responsible discussion before being positively voted on unanimously by all present members of the regional council.
